E.S.T.E.A.M. Blasts-off with the Girl Scouts (continued)-- 11/15/2014
Ms. Harding regaled listeners with stories from her jobs with NASA and JPSS. She talked about her work with the Mars Rover and even did an interactive demonstration with audience members to show how a planet and a satellite orbit around the Sun.
"The Sky's the Limit" was presented by E.S.T.E.A.M. in partnership with Girl Scouts of Central Maryland's Troop #211 as part of their participation in NASA's MAVEN Girls Go to Mars program. This national pilot, which was developed by Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) and NASA, has an extension activity in which participants explore STEM careers and the likelihood of girls and women working in those fields.
Kudos to Malerie, Troop #211's assistant troop leader, for being the project lead for #211's Girls Go to Mars program and for arranging for Ms. Harding to be our guest. Ms. Harding is one of the best speakers the troop has ever had!
Sincerest thanks to Ms. Harding for telling the audiences about her exciting career and for sharing with the students her thoughts on How to Set Yourself Up for Success.
